In this article by ODNR, the goal of this project is to gather data and provide guidance to central Ohio communities with the shared idea to prevent further habitat decline in Big and Little Darby Creek.
MBI is excited to share our involvement in this project as we've developed an Integrated Prioritization System (IPS) tool that analyzes and displays data to help understand trending patterns of the health of certain streams. This specific study showed stressors that impact central Ohio streams in regard to water quality, habitat, and rare species that are at risk. The Darby Creek watershed is the last place known for some of these rare species to exist. Another goal for this project is to help guide property owners and management practices to make decisions that consider protection of these streams and offset harmful impacts to the watershed. Now that phase 1 is completed, it's time to move to phase 2 which prioritizes conservation and restoration. This article goes into deeper detail on how this study will progress as well as highlighting specific conservation project partners. Click the article below to read more!
